With Adam Carolla voted off, the competition starts to heat up on Dancing with the Stars. Tonights dance were the Rumba and the Samba.

Mario and Karina Smirnoff

Before they danced, they showed Mario and Karina talking with the great Stevie Wonder. (hmmmm maybe he’ll be on next year). Anyway, Karina was in an incredibly not there yellow outfit with yellow puff feathers strategically placed. Even she mentioned “Big Bird”, and she lost a few feathers. Technically and entertainment value was very high. Judges basically gave him thumbs up for a classic performance.

Priscilla Presley and Louis van Amstel

Priscilla is getting a bit frustrated with the instruction. The performed the Rumba, slow and sexy. That was the uneasy part. Technique was pushed too much. The judges were disappointed, and I can’t blame them too much.

Marissa Jaret Winokur and Tony Dovolani

I really hate to say this cause I’m not thin either, I was not looking forward to her Samba. But her energetic enthusiasm helped alot. Carrie Ann went so far as saying it was her best performance. Bruno said that once she got into it, there was no stopping her. But they gave her the same score as last week.

Cristian de la Fuente and Cheryl Burke

It’s no secret that Cheryl is my favorite professional, followed closely by Karina. Cristian and Cheryl did the Rumba, and although they said they had a problem with it…it was still hot and seductive. The judges however thought it was “competent”. Carrie Ann didn’t see the chemistry.

Marlee Matlin and Fabian Sanchez

It was ok, but I thought her deafness caught up with her. The judges thought the same, but were trying to be upbeat. How can you nail a person when she can’t hear the music?

Kristi Yamaguch and Mark Ballas

Kristi was having problems with the Rumba cause she felt too much like a wife and mom. Well it showed, she smiled too much and really didn’t feel any passion. Technically it was great, but little fire.  The judges thought differently.  They thought it was stupendous. 

Shannon Elizabeth and Derek Hough

This has not been the season for Derek, first neck injury then food poisoning.  Is Shannon a jinx?  Well their dance was ok, but Shannon didn’t move her hips enough.  She was definately out of breath, but even Bruno said you got to shake them. 

Jason Taylor and Edyta Sliwinska

Jason in rehersal was having problems with hip action in the Rumba. To me he looked a little stiff, but I was mainly concentrating on Edyta…purrrrrrr.   The judges remarks were good, but wanted to see him to more.  They gave him a slightly lower score from last week.

Prediction:  Priscilla should be going, her dance was definately the low point.  However, I am disappointed by Shannon’s performance.
